Executive Committee UEFA EURO Decisions: Hosts Selected for Upcoming Club Finals

The UEFA Euro Women Executive Committee convened in Dublin, Ireland, on Wednesday, May 22, making several crucial decisions. These included the selection of venues for upcoming UEFA club competition finals, the procedure for the final draw of UEFA Women‘s EURO 2025, and an update on the Standing Facilities Observer Programme. This meeting occurred just before the Europa League final featuring Atalanta and Bayer 04 Leverkusen, who are nearing an unprecedented unbeaten season across all competitions.

 

UEFA EURO Women Club Competition Finals

The committee appointed the following hosts for future UEFA club competition finals:

  • UEFA EURO Champions League

    • 2026: Budapest, Puskás Aréna
    • 2027: Decision pending until September 2024, contingent on the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) providing refurbishment plans for Milan’s San Siro stadium.
  • UEFA Europa League

    • 2026: Istanbul, Beşiktaş Park
    • 2027: Frankfurt, Stadion Frankfurt
  • UEFA Conference League

    • 2026: Leipzig, RB Arena
    • 2027: Istanbul, Beşiktaş Park
  • UEFA Women’s Champions League

    • 2026: Oslo, Ullevaal Stadion
    • 2027: New bidding process to be initiated as Germany is already set to host the 2026 and 2027 finals, excluding Stuttgart’s bid from consideration.

 

UEFA EURO 2025 Final Draw

The procedure for the final draw for Women UEFA EURO 2025, scheduled for December 16, 2024, in Lausanne, Switzerland, was approved. The 16-team tournament will take place from July 2 to 27, with matches in Basel (opening and final), Bern, Geneva, Lucerne, Sion, St. Gallen, Thun, and Zurich.

 

Standing Facilities Observer Programme

The committee reviewed the Standing Facilities Observer Programme, which has been in place since the 2022/23 season, and agreed to extend it for the 2024/25 season. The extension includes clubs from the Netherlands, Portugal, Belgium, Scotland, and Austria, where standing facilities are permitted domestically, aiming to enhance the sample size and diversity of data.

Next Meeting The next UEFA Executive Committee meeting is scheduled for September 24, 2024, in Prague, Czechia.
